Dear Flora,
I have just received your letter. In your letter you wanted to know how we celebrated Pohela Boishakh in our school. Now, I am describing it.
Pohela Boishakh is the first day of the Bangla calendar (বাংলা ক্যালেন্ডার). In order to celebrate the Pahela Baishakh, we decorated (সজ্জিত) the school premises tastefully. So the school wore a festive look (উৎসব চেহারা). A fair was arranged in the school premises (চত্তর) on this occasion. The volunteers fenced (বেড়) the entire area. They set up shops and stalls for the traders. There were shops selling sweets, nick nacks, toys, homemade things, etc.
A group of volunteers rendered service in maintaining discipline. The fair was a special attraction (বিশেষ আকর্ষণ) for the children. People bought their necessary things and children bought sweets, toys, and different types of things. In fact the fair gave me immense pleasure because all our efforts became successful. We enjoyed Pahela Baishakh very much.

আমি এইমাত্র তোমার চিঠি পেয়েছি। তোমার চিঠিতে তুমি জানতে চেয়েছিলে যে আমরা আমাদের স্কুলে কীভাবে পহেলা বৈশাখ উদযাপন করেছি। এখন, আমি এটি বর্ণনা করছি।
পহেলা বৈশাখ বাংলা ক্যালেন্ডারের প্রথম দিন। পহেলা বৈশাখ উদযাপনের জন্য, আমরা স্কুল চত্বরকে সুন্দরভাবে সাজিয়েছি। তাই স্কুলে উৎসবের আমেজ ছিল। এ উপলক্ষে বিদ্যালয় প্রাঙ্গণে এক মেলার আয়োজন করা হয়। স্বেচ্ছাসেবকরা পুরো এলাকা বেষ্টনী করে দেয়। তারা ব্যবসায়ীদের জন্য দোকান ও স্টল বসিয়েছে। সেখানে নিক নাক, মিষ্টি, খেলনা এবং ঘরের তৈরি জিনিসপত্রের দোকান ছিল।
স্বেচ্ছাসেবকদের একটি দল শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখার জন্য সেবা প্রদান করেছে। মেলায় শিশুদের জন্য ছিল বিশেষ আকর্ষণ। লোকজন তাদের প্রয়োজীয় জিনিস ক্রয় করেছিল এবং শিশুরা মিষ্টি, খেলনাসহ বিভিন্ন ধরনের জিনিস কিনেছে।
আসলে মেলা আমাকে অনেক আনন্দ দিয়েছে কারণ আমাদের সকল প্রচেষ্টা সফল হয়েছে। পহেলা বৈশাখ আমরা খুব উপভোগ করেছি।
আমি ভালো আছি। তোমার পিতামাতার প্রতি শুভেচ্ছা এবং সকলের প্রতি ভালবাসা রইল।
