All that glitters is not gold

One day a stag was very hungry and went to a pool to drink water. While drinking water, he could see his reflection in the water. He was very impressed by his horns. He thought, “God is very kind. He gave me such a beautiful pair of horns.” He admired them a lot. He felt proud of them. Then his gaze went to his feet. He was annoyed that his feet looked thin and ugly.

Then he asked Allah for such feet. He left there unhappy. After some time, a hunter came into the forest. All the animals (beasts) started running to save their lives. The stag didn’t know what to do. He saw the hunter coming towards them. Then all the animals started running for their lives. By the time he realized it was too late to escape. The stag (deer) started running to save his life. His ugly feet helped him run faster. He was trying to run his best.

Unfortunately, his horns got tangled in the vines in the bushes. He had nothing to do. Suddenly he fell down and was injured and could not get up. Then the hunter approached the deer and killed it. If the deer did not have antlers, the deer might not have been killed.

Morality: All that glitters is not gold or External beauty is never real beauty.

একদিন এক হরিণ খুব পিপাসার্ত ছিল। সে পুলে একটা পুকুরে পানি খেতে গেল। পানি পান করার সময় সে পানিতে তার প্রতিফলন দেখতে পায়েছিল। তার শিং দেখে সে খুব মুগ্ধ হয়েছিল। সে ভাবলো, “আল্লাহ বড়ই দয়ালু। তিনি আমাকে এমন এক জোড়া সুন্দর শিং দিয়েছেন।” সে তাদের অনেক প্রশংসা করেছিল। সে তাদের নিয়ে গর্ববোধ করলো। তখন তার দৃষ্টি চলে গেল পায়ের দিকে। তার পা দেখতে পাতলা এবং কুৎসিত ছিল বলে সে বিরক্ত হয়ে উঠলো।

অতঃপর সে এমন পা দেওয়ার জন্য আল্লাহর অখুশি হয়ে সেখান থেকে চলে গেলো। কিছুক্ষণ পর, জঙ্গলে এক শিকারী আসলো। সব প্রাণী প্রাণ বাঁচাতে ছুটতে লাগল । হরিণ বুঝতে পারছিল না কী হবে। সে দেখতে পেলো যে শিকারী তাদের দিকে আসতেছিল। তখন সমস্ত প্রাণী প্রাণ বাঁচাতে দৌড়াতে শুরু করেছিল। সে যখন বুঝতে পারলো তখন পালাতে দেরি হয়ে গিয়েছিল। প্রাণ বাঁচাতে হরিণ দৌড়াতে লাগলো। তার কুৎসিত পা তাকে দ্রুত দৌড়াতে সাহায্য করেছিল। যত দ্রুত সম্ভব দৌড়ানোর চেষ্টা করছিলেন।

দুর্ভাগ্যক্রমে, তার শিংগুলি ঝোপের মধ্যে লতাগুলির সাথে জড়িয়ে পড়েছিল। তার কিছুই করার ছিল না। হঠাৎ সে পড়ে গেলো এবং আহত হয়ে উঠতে পারলো না। তারপর শিকারী হরিনের কাছাকাছি এসে তাকে হত্যা করেছিল। যদি হরিণের শিং না থাততো তাহলে হরিনকে হয়তো হত্যা করা হতো না।
