Story: The Lion and the Mouse
One day in a forest a lion was sleeping in his den. A mouse was playing nearby. During the game it suddenly passed over the body of the lion. Because of this the lion woke up and was very angry. With a terrible growl he caught the mouse and said, “You little creature, how dare you tease me? I will kill (assassinate) you now.” The rat trembled (shake) in fear and begged for its life.
The mouse also replied, “Highness, I am a small creature (animal) but I can help others. Please let me go, sooner or later, I can help (assist) you. Besides, will you get any fame if you kill me?” Hearing this, the lion (big cat) burst into laughter (chuckle) and said, “O you (you-all)! Are you fit to help me?” However, the lion freed the mouse. Then the lion told the mouse to do his work. After some time the lion fell into the hunter’s trap in the forest. The lion could not even try his best to break free from the net.
He began to roar and said, “Save me, please save me.” Hearing this, the rat came quickly and said, “Highness, don’t worry and keep quiet. I will cut the web to pieces and you will be able to come out.” The mouse cut the net and freed the lion. Being free (united), the lion said, “You are small (little) in size but worthy (celebrity). You saved (save someone’s life) my life and thank you so much. In fact, the strong or the mighty are also dependent on the weak.”

গল্প: সিংহ এবং ইদুর
একদিন একটি বনে একটি সিংহ তার গুহায় ঘুমাচ্ছিল। কাছেই একটা ইঁদুর খেলছিল। খেলার সময় হঠাৎ করে তা সিংহের শরীরের উপর দিয়ে চলে গিয়েছিল। এ কারণে সিংহ জেগে ওঠেছিল এবং খুব রেগে গিয়েছিল। ভয়ানক গর্জনে সে ইঁদুরটিকে ধরে বলল, “তুমি ছোট্ট প্রাণী, আমাকে জ্বালাতন করার সাহস কী করে হল? আমি তোমাকে এখন হত্যা করবো।” ইঁদুরটি ভয়ে কাঁপতে লাগল এবং তার জীবন ভিক্ষা চেয়েছিল।
ইদুরটি আরো বলেছিল, “মহারাজ, আমি একটি ছোট প্রাণী কিন্তু আমি অন্যদের সাহায্য করতে পারি। দয়া করে আমাকে যেতে দিন, তাড়াতাড়ি বা পরে, আমি আপনাকে সাহায্য করতে পারি। তা ছাড়া আপনি আমাকে মেরে ফেললে আপনার কি কোন খ্যাতি আসবে?” এই কথা শুনে সিংহ অট্টহাসিতে ফেটে পড়ল (অপমানিত করে হাসা) এবং বলল, “হে তুমি (অপমান করে)! তুমি কি আমাকে সাহায্য করার উপযুক্ত?” যাইহোক, সিংহটি ইঁদুরটিকে মুক্ত করেছিলেন। তারপর সিংহটি ইদুরটিকে নিজের কাজ করতে বলেছিলেন। কিছুক্ষণ পর সিংহটি বনে শিকারির ফাঁদে পড়েছিল। সিংহ জাল থেকে মুক্ত হওয়ার সর্বোচ্চ চেষ্টা করেও পারেনি।
