A Road Accident

Road accidents are a common occurrence nowadays. Every day there is a road accident somewhere. Thousands of people die every year in road  accidents. It is growing rapidly day by day. Most of the accidents take place in urban areas and on highways. A few days ago I saw a road accident in Uttara. I was very close to the spot. I was coming home from Uttara.

Suddenly a man was crossing the road. A speedy big bus was coming from the opposite direction. He ran fast. But he could no longer be on the side of the road. The bus ran over him on the spot in an instant. The bus immediately fled the scene. After a while, the police came and sent him to the hospital. It was one of the deadliest road accidents I’ve ever seen. Many families lose a single earning member due to a road accident.

Many become crippled. The government needs to enforce strict laws to reduce road accidents. The general public must obey the traffic laws. The driver of the vehicle must have a valid license. Drivers need to stop reckless driving. We need to broadcast regularly on television about traffic rules.

একটি সড়ক দুর্ঘটনা

বর্তমানে রোড একসিডেন্ট একটা সাধারণ বিষয়। প্রতিদিন কেথাও না কোথাও রোড একসিডেন্ট হচ্ছে। হাজার হাজার মানুষ এ দুর্ঘটায় শিকার হয়। দিন দিন ইহা দ্রুত বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। বেশির ভাগ দুর্ঘটনা ঘরে শহরঅঞ্চলে ও মহাসড়কে। কিছু দিন পূবে উত্তরাতে  আমি একটা রোড একসিডেন্ট দেখেছিলাম। আমি ঘটনাস্থলের খুব নিকটে ছিলাম। আমি উত্তরা থেকে বাড়িতে আসতেছিলাম।

হঠাৎ একজন লোক রাস্তা পাড় হচ্ছিল। তার বিপরীত দিক থেকে একটা বড় বাস আসতেছিল। সে দ্রুত দৌড় দিল। কিন্ত সে আর রাস্তা পাড় হতে পারলো না। বাসের সাথে একসিডেন্ট হয়ে সেখানে মারা গেল। তৎক্ষণাৎ বাসটি সেখান থেকে পালিয়ে গেল। কিছুক্ষণ পর পুলিশ এসে তাকে হাসপাতালে পাঠায়। এটা ছিল আমার দেখা একটা মারাত্মক রোড একসিডেন্ট। রোড একসিডেন্টের কারণে অনেক পরিবার একমাত্র উপার্জনকারীকে সদস্যকে হারায়।

অনেকে পঙ্গু হয়ে যায়। রোড একসিডেন্ট কমানোর জন্য সরকারকে কঠিন আইন প্রয়োগ করতে হবে। সাধারণ জনগনকে ট্রাফিক আইন মানতে হবে। গাড়ীর চালকের বৈধ লাইসেন্স থাকতে হবে। ড্রাইভারদের বেপরোয়া গাড়ী চালান বন্ধ করতে হবে। ট্রাফিক নিয়ম সম্পর্কে নিয়মিত আমাদের টেলিভিশনে প্রচার করতে হবে।
