Dear friend,

I am very happy to receive your email. I have just read it. You have wanted to know about my hostel (ছাত্রাবাস) life. Now I am giving a short description of it. I am also sending you some photos snapped (ছবি তোলা) with my hostel mates in the mail attachment.

There are fifty students in my hostel. We all are about the same age. By staying in a hostel, I can give proper attention to my studies. We can’t neglect studies as per our wish. Every student is doing well in the exam with the strict care of the teacher. Good practices are regularly observed among the students. No student can walk outside the rules. In the afternoon we play different games. Our hostel Supper is a gentle man and he takes particular care of us. He monitors us all the time so that we may not face any difficulty.

But everything is not altogether good here. The hostel’s canteen and dining room are in a mess (মেস). Sometimes we find low quality foods. The canteen, kitchen and utensils are not always clean. There is also lack of security (নিরাপত্তা) in our hostel. So there are occurrences (ঘটনা) of theft in here. We lost our necessary things.

But don’t get worried. I am trying to be habituated (অভ্যস্ত) in the environment. No more today. Convey (বহন করা ) my regards to your parents.

আমি তোমার ইমেল পেয়ে খুব খুশি। আমি শুধু তোমার ইমেল পড়েছি। তুমি আমার হোস্টেল জীবন সম্পর্কে জানতে চেয়েছ। এখন আমি এর সংক্ষিপ্ত বিবরণ দিচ্ছি। আমি তোমাকে মেইল সংযুক্তিতে আমার হোস্টেল ম্যাটের সাথে স্ন্যাপ করা কিছু ছবিও পাঠাচ্ছি।

আমার হোস্টেলে পঞ্চাশজন ছাত্র আছে। আমরা সবাই প্রায় একই বয়সী। হোস্টেলে থেকে পড়ালেখায় ঠিকমতো মনোযোগ দিতে পারি। আমরা আমাদের ইচ্ছানুযায়ী পড়াশোনাকে অবহেলা করতে পারি না। শিক্ষকের কঠোর যত্নে প্রতিটি শিক্ষার্থী পরীক্ষায় ভালো করছে। শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে নিয়মিত ভালো চর্চা পরিলক্ষিত হয়। কোনো শিক্ষার্থী নিয়মের বাইরে চলতে পারবে না। বিকেলে আমরা বিভিন্ন খেলা খেলি। আমাদের হোস্টেল সুপার একজন ভদ্রলোক এবং তিনি আমাদের বিশেষ যত্ন নেন। তিনি আমাদের সার্বক্ষণিক নজরদারি করেন যাতে আমাদের কোনো অসুবিধা না হয়।

তবে এখানে সবকিছুই ভালো নয়। হোস্টেলের ক্যান্টিন ও ডাইনিং রুম এলোমেলো। অনেক সময় আমরা নিম্নমানের খাবার খুঁজে পাই। ক্যান্টিন, রান্নাঘর এবং বাসনপত্র সবসময় পরিষ্কার থাকে না। আমাদের হোস্টেলে নিরাপত্তার অভাবও রয়েছে। তাই এখানে চুরির ঘটনা আছে। আমরা আমাদের প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিস হারিয়েছি।

তবে চিন্তিত হবে না। আমি পরিবেশে অভ্যস্ত হওয়ার চেষ্টা করছি। আজ আর নয়। তোমার পিতামাতার প্রতি আমার সালাম জানাও।
